It could have been a beautiful story. The Anne Frank Tree, that despite illness and the threat of being cut down, remained steadfast. Everyone seemed to want to contribute to saving the legacy of the giant chestnut of Anne Frank. But it turned out differently. The precious steel support structure collapsed at the first storm and a fierce argument over the costs incurred started. It was a soap opera , one major public failure.
'Requiem for a tree " is a tragicomic story in which director Michael Brongers lets the actors tell about their motivations and the cause of this fiasco. The film also shows the raw nerve of the Holocaust still convulsively dictates the commemoration of the Second World.
