55 minuten, VPRO
Weeks before the 2014 World Cup, four workers in São Paulo were followed by Maria Ramos, with her clinical, rigourous eye. Between professional situations and intimate moments, these real-life characters reveal utopias and disillusions in confronting the challenges of the country’s largest city. The director looks at the plurality of urban experiences and the paradoxes and contradictions typical in Brazilian society.
The documentary is selected for the international competition Yamagata (YIDFF 2015).
Maria Ramos won an award for best direction in the documentary section on Festival do Rio 2015.
