UNEXPECTED (2011)

UNEXPECTED is an intimate and moving portrait of a woman who unexpectedly becomes pregnant and is considering abortion. The film depicts the woman's dilemma, her inner struggle: should she keep the child of not? The film takes place in the few weeks between finding out about her pregnancy and her final decision. The clock is ticking: whatever she decides, it will always have an impact on her life. Like Maria Ramos' previous films, UNEXPECTED consists only of close observation of the main character's daily life, without interviews or voice-overs. She is confronted with her dilemma every minute of the day. We witness how she tries to reach a decision: an intimate, painful and lonely process of soul searching and self analysis. It makes us put ourselves in her position: what would we do?
