Filmdirector Kees Vlaanderen filmed several months in the detention center of Rotterdam where ‘vreemdelingen’ are about to be deported by force. ‘Vreemdelingendetentie’ was until now a no- go area for filmmakers in the Netherlands, but Kees Vlaanderen was permitted to be present for a few months. The result is a sometimes harsh and raw image of the daily life in the detentioncenter for the detainees as well as supervisors.
